To be fair, a bunch of the alt-history worldbuilding are fairly subtle and a part of the deliberate sublime feeling the crew were going for, so some of the teases we got were to make the world of Steven Universe seem much larger and lived in beyond just what we see on screen. Stuff like Jamie wanting to go to Kansas because it's their Hollywood and Amethyst's mold old burrito from an Aquamexican restaurant to name a few. It's like how we got hints of the gems going on adventures that they didn't take Steven on, or how characters and their relationships could change beyond Steven's knowledge or awareness like Lars, Sadie, and Shep.

Depends; a Fused Setting I would try to mix and match things to see how it shakes out, for a straight-up crossover, worlds collide style, I'd leave it as is so folks can compare and contrast how their lives differ.
I was brainstorming a crossover with Gravity Falls which promptly made me think of this question.

Honestly, I don't think SU's history would impact GF's story at all.

You think the Crystal Gems were present for Quentin Trembley's inauguration?

... Do they even know what an Inauguration is, exactly?

They don't have to.
They can just show up because Amethyst heard there was free food and wanted to oblige her.
Also, hilarious if Amethyst accidentally caused the landslide that helped Quentin win the election.

Probably not. The unfortunate thing with the Crystal Gems is that they were kinda focused on just Gem-related stuff for several millennia, and mainly interacted with humans in terms of either shooing them away from a Gem site, protecting them from a corrupted gem, and or one of Rose's past relationships with a human. Some election held in the middle of nowhere would have been pretty unlikely to draw their attention.
Now, the Crystal Gems having stumbled into Quentin Trembley out on a silliness induced adventure on the other hand I could very easily see happening.

Knowing Trembley's brilliant absurdity? I can totally see him finding some Gem ruins and accidentally turning on the technology, forcing the Crystal Gems to chase him down.
Also, the reason Quentin managed to preserve himself to the present day was because one day he simply asked Rose to cry into that quart of peanut butter.

Can't really mesh the idea of SU with Gravity Falls. The government in Gravity Falls actually try to interfere in supernatural events after all~.

The justification could be that Quentin, after being saved by the gems, gave them any amnesty, legal documents and jurisdiction over any matter related to the gems.

That wouldn't make sense because it wasn't the local government that came looking when they realized that supernatural stuff was going on.

Wasn't Quentin the President of the United States? Of course, they erased him from history, but I think it's a credible enough explanation. At least for me

Technically, he's still the President of the United States, he never signed away his powers before history overwrote him.

More reason for Steven and the girls to keep an eye on him, the intelligence services chasing him to make him resign could serve as one of the plots for the crossover.
